Authors Name:-Â Deepak Verma, Payal Rastogi
Abstract:-Â Traffic flow control methods are crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of freeways. Over the years, various techniques have been developed to manage the flow of traffic, including ramp metering, variable speed limits, and lane control systems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of these methods on drivers' behavior in freeway environments. A literature review was conducted, and various studies were analyzed to identify the most effective traffic control methods. The study found that ramp metering, variable speed limits, and lane control systems are all effective in reducing congestion, increasing safety, and improving traffic flow in freeways. Additionally, these methods were found to have a positive impact on drivers' behavior by reducing driver stress, increasing compliance with speed limits, and improving lane discipline. However, further research is speed limits. However, some studies have also found that ramp metering can cause frustration among drivers waiting to enter the freeway, and may lead to risky driving behavior. Variable speed limits are another traffic flow control method that involves changing speed limits in response to changing traffic conditions. Studies have found that variable speed limits can improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, particularly during peak traffic periods. Additionally, variable speed limits have been found to improve driver behavior by increasing compliance with speed limits and reducing the number of accidents caused by speeding. Lane control systems involve the use of electronic signs and signals to control the number of lanes open to traffic. Studies have shown that lane control systems are effective in reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. Additionally, lane control systems have been found to improve driver behavior by promoting lane discipline, reducing lane changes, and improving compliance with speed limits.

Authors:-Â Devendrasinh Chauhan, Jitesh Shukla
Abstract:-Â Any form of transportation that is eco-friendly and has little impact on the environment is considered sustainable. It all comes down to striking a balance between our immediate and long-term interests when it comes to transportation. Walking, riding, using public transportation, carpooling, car sharing, and operating electric vehicles are other forms of urban mobility. Transportation is the single largest contributor to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. By opting for effective transit over a car, everyone can reduce their negative effects even more. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that transportation is responsible for about 25% of all pollutants. 4,720 kg of CO2, 186.6 kg of CO, 28 kg of VOCs, and 25.6 kg of NOx are produced by the average car each year.

Vol 7, No 2 (2022): The Impact of Fiber Additives on the Physical Properties of Pavements
Authors:-Â Dr. Shubham Pandey,Rachit Saxsena, Abhimanyu Gupta
Abstract:-Â The transportation network is a significant aspect in determining a country's success. Pavement is a fundamental component of transportation. Pavements are in poor condition in most nations, particularly in India. This is mostly due to inadequate road maintenance, the use of low-quality materials, and other factors. Potholes form on a pavement when it loses its capacity to convey traffic weight to the subgrade. The transportation industry is constantly expanding. This results in a significant rise in the number of cars, which increases traffic congestion. Existing pavements are incapable of bearing this increased strain. The traditional materials utilised in pavement construction are unable to withstand the heavy traffic load. It signifies that there is a need to increase the strength, quality, and other characteristics of the pavement mix. The inclusion of fibres is one of the simplest and most efficient ways to accomplish this. The fibres enhance the mechanical, rheological, and volumetric qualities of the mixtures. Some obvious benefits are increased fracture resistance, durability, adhesion, and flexibility. This research examines how the characteristics of pavement mixes change when they are amended with synthetic fibres, natural fibres, and mineral fibres. Changes in pavement mix parameters such as Marshall stability, flow value, indirect tensile strength, Marshall quotient, VMA (voids in mineral aggregate), VFA (voids filled with asphalt), drain down values, and so on have been investigated. Mixtures containing fibres provide improved impact resistance, a reduction in traffic abrasiveness, and a delay in the initiation and propagation of fractures.

Vol 7, No 2 (2022): Simulation of Travel Time Delays at Signalized Intersections under Mixed Traffic Conditions
Authors:-Â Anita Gunwantrao Kale, Dipshikha Naringe
Abstract:-Â Signalized junctions are critical places in any road network system, where saturation traffic and latency are significant metrics for evaluating signalised intersections, which also impacts signal timing design. To predict vehicle delay at signalised junctions, several approaches have been utilised. There have been very few studies to assess delay at signalised crossings with mixed traffic. The current study's goal is to create a model for delay in mixed traffic situations. The current research will focus on three four-legged signalised junctions in Calicut. Saturation flow is calculated in PCU/hr by dividing the number of vehicles during the saturation green phase by the length of the saturated green time. Both licence plate and object matching approaches are used to predict delay. In the current work, a non-linear model is created to estimate the delay. The link between delay and several factors is established, and it is discovered that delay grows exponentially with flow, logarithmically with degree of saturation, and linearly with proportion of heavy vehicles.

Authors:-Â Mallikarjun A Patil, Sreenatha.M
Abstract:-Â This study examined the impact of uncontrolled intersections on vehicle drivers at intersections. Initially, preliminary analyses were conducted to determine the vehicular traffic and the Volume of the automobiles. This paper focuses primarily on the traffic analysis of various different kinds of vehicles volume, as well as the computation of PCU values and areas where vehicles can be conflicted. Three days of flow rate were gathered in the selected study region, as traffic increased day by day on a peak and non-peak hour basis. Different traffic data analysis using traffic volume count, speed data such as spot speed, speed and delay, time mean speed and space mean speed were calculated and find the relation of flow parameters as per the traffic movement. To identify traffic conflict in the study area, volume counts in each path of the intersection were performed to determine the study location conflict area. This paper can be used to study vehicle travel patterns at crossing points for future development of the study area's junction.

Vol 7, No 1 (2022): A Review of Rutting and Fatigue Analysis of Flexible Pavement Using KENPAVE and IITPAVE
Authors:-Â Ghanshyam Das Gupta, Kritika Prabhakar
Abstract:-Â Pavements are an essential component of every roadway system. Pavements are coming apart in the early years of construction due to extreme climatic conditions and premature distresses, although being built for 15-20 years. Furthermore, owing to inadequate quality control during construction, high axle loads, adverse weather conditions, and limited maintenance funds, pavements commonly break early. Understanding the degradation pattern of flexible pavement is required before making a choice to reinforce the pavement. Premature failures in flexible pavement, such as rutting and fatigue, produce significant distresses in the pavement. For developing pavement structures effectively and efficiently, the designers use the new Mechanistic-Empirical (M-E) pavement design technique rather than the previous empirical design approach. The KENPAVE and IITPAVE software provide pavement reactions in terms of stresses and strains, and they have a considerable impact on performance prediction using the M-E design technique. This research analyses the available literature on flexible pavement response analysis utilising KENPAVE and IITPAVE. With KENPAVE and IITPAVE, the selection of pavement materials and pavement performance may be more properly analysed.

Authors:-Â Dr. V. S. Akilandeswari, S. Bhuvaneswari
Abstract:-Â In many emerging and developed nations, air pollution is a major issue. The largest source of air pollution in urban road networks is automotive emissions. In this regard, the current research illustrates the prediction of vehicular emissions from various kinds of vehicles seen on Vijayawada city's metropolitan highways. The Automobile Air Pollution Inventory (VAPI) model was used to assess and forecast vehicular emissions based on data collected in the municipality. This study examines the unbound emissions of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydro Carbon (HC), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Particulate Matter (PM), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Benzene, 1-3 Butadiene, Formaldehyde, and Acetaldehyde from six distinct modes of transportation. The VAPI model findings revealed that there is a steady rise in emissions of each pollutant category each year, resulting in a decrease of air quality in the research region. The report also offers various mitigating actions to enhance the city's air quality in the next years.

Authors:-Â Prof. Rohit Malabade, Akhilesh Kore, Shubham Saste
Abstract:-Â When planning the development of any town or village, it is expected that the best adaption of comfort, convenience, health, and safety would be achieved. The stability of the soil mass on which the proposed structure will be constructed should also be evaluated and investigated on a regular basis. In this research a total of ten different soil-resisting strategies have been discussed. The mangrove restoration approach is the most effective of them because it maximises the use of land to lower the moisture content of the soil by using the area as a farm. Forestry plantings such as mangrove trees will have an impact on the soil's stability. Furthermore, adding lime to damp sand is one of the most effective preventative measures for landslides since lime hydrates fast when exposed to moisture. Moist sand hydrates with the water in the soil, and the hydration process supports the decrease of the soil's moisture content and, as a result, boosts the soil's overall strength and durability.

Vol 6, No 3 (2021): Review of Pedestrian Walkways to Make Pedestrians Safe in India
Authors:Â Â G. Ravi Kishor, B. Sarva Rao
Abstract: Most Indian towns are concerned about the deterioration of the pedestrian environment and the rising danger of pedestrian accidents. The recent change in priority to motorised transport, as well as the deterioration of existing pedestrian infrastructure, can be attributed to the rise in pedestrian-related accidents in India. Bengaluru City, the nation's IT capital centre, is not much different. The rise in the number of pedestrian accidents in Bengaluru reflects this. To address this issue and provide safe, sustainable, and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, the Government of Karnataka, India, has introduced a novel pedestrian sidewalks programme known as Tender S.U.R.E. (Specifications for Urban Road Execution) projects. Tender SURE follows special urban street design rules that prioritise pedestrians. The current study provides an assessment of the quality and performance of pedestrian sidewalks, as well as the walkability index of freshly constructed pedestrian-friendly sidewalks. Several physical and environmental elements impacting pedestrian safety are discovered and thoroughly explored. The Pedestrian Level of Service (PLoS) is used to quantify pedestrian mobility, while the Walkability Index is used to calculate pedestrian walking comfort (WI). It has been noticed that the new steps implemented to improve pedestrian safety have been successful in Bengaluru, with a level of Service of 'A' and an excellent WI score.
