Abstract:- Variable speed limits (VSLs) have become a popular strategy for improving safety and traffic flow in bottleneck areas. This article explores different strategies for implementing VSLs to improve safety and traffic parameters for bottleneck areas. The strategies include fixed VSLs, dynamic VSLs, ramp metering, and adaptive ramp metering. The study concludes that a combination of these strategies can effectively manage traffic conditions and reduce congestion-related incidents in bottleneck areas.
