Vol 1, No 1 (2025): Role of Cawthornecooksey Exercise Along with Conventional Physical Therapy Verses Conventional Physical Therapy Alone to

Authors : Dr. Ayush Yogi , Dr. Niyati Thakkar

Abstract : Objective: To study the role of cawthornecooksey exercise along with conventional physical verses conventional physical therapy alone in improving balance, coordination and sense of spinning in patient with vertigo. Method: A total 30 participants were included. The data was collected with berg balance scale and dynamic gait index through physical examination.30-50 years of patients were selected for the study. Results were calculated with their post and pre assessment including berg balance scale and dynamic index. Results: The data was analyzed using SPSS Version 26. Parametric test was used in Group B showed the effective result in patients of vertigo. Conclusion: According to the study, cawthornecooksey exercise along with conventional physical therapy was found more effective than conventional physical therapy alone to improve balance, coordination and sense of spinning in subject with vertigo.

Vol 1, No 1 (2025): Postural Drainage Techniques in Pneumonia

Authors :  Kavita R. Shewale, Arjun M. Pillai, Swathi R. Dandapani

Abstract : Pneumonia remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly among the elderly, infants, and immunocompromised individuals. Effective management of pneumonia not only involves antimicrobial therapy but also supportive techniques aimed at improving pulmonary function and airway clearance. One such supportive technique is postural drainage—a physiotherapeutic intervention that uses gravity-assisted positioning to mobilize pulmonary secretions from different lung segments. This paper explores the physiological basis of postural drainage, its techniques, indications, contraindications, and clinical effectiveness in managing pneumonia. The integration of postural drainage with other chest physiotherapy modalities significantly enhances patient outcomes by improving oxygenation, reducing infection risk from retained secretions, and decreasing the length of hospital stay.

Vol 1, No 1 (2025): Integrated Physiotherapy Approaches in Post-Operative Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Authors : Dr. Shweta D. Nair, Abhinav Rajput

Abstract : Post-operative orthopedic conditions such as joint replacements, fracture repairs, and ligament reconstructions significantly impact a patient’s functional capacity. Physiotherapy plays a pivotal role in restoring mobility, minimizing pain, and facilitating safe return to daily activities. This paper explores evidence-based physiotherapy interventions post-surgery, including early mobilization, strength training, proprioceptive re-education, and functional gait training. Emphasis is placed on phase-wise rehabilitation protocols, individualized care plans, and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve surgical outcomes. By highlighting current practices and future trends, this paper reinforces the essential role of physiotherapists in managing the complex recovery process following orthopedic surgeries.

Vol 1, No 1 (2025): The Role of Physiotherapy in Respiratory Complications Following Abdominal Surgery

Authors : Jyoti Agarwal, Sanya Rawal

Abstract : Post-operative pulmonary complications are a leading cause of morbidity following abdominal surgeries. Ineffective coughing, reduced lung volumes, and impaired mucociliary clearance are common issues resulting from anesthesia, incision pain, and immobility. This paper discusses how physiotherapy interventions such as incentive spirometry, diaphragmatic breathing, early mobilization, and chest physiotherapy mitigate respiratory complications. It emphasizes the importance of prehabilitation and post-operative pulmonary care to reduce hospital stays and improve surgical outcomes. A comprehensive physiotherapy plan tailored to patient condition and surgical type enhances respiratory mechanics and facilitates recovery.

Vol 1, No 1 (2025): Neurophysiotherapy in the Management of Stroke: From Acute Care to Community Reintegration

Author : Ramesh Kulkarni

Abstract : Stroke remains a leading cause of disability worldwide, affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Physiotherapy is crucial in every phase of stroke care, from acute hospital management to long-term community-based rehabilitation. This paper outlines the scope of neurophysiotherapy interventions including bed mobility training, balance restoration, gait retraining, spasticity management, and neuroplasticity-based therapies. The impact of early mobilization in stroke units and use of task-specific training to promote functional independence is highlighted. This paper also explores the transition from hospital to home and how community-based therapy ensures sustained improvement in quality of life.
