Data Privacy and Ethical Concerns in Internet of Things: A Comprehensive Analysis

Abstract : The rapid proliferation of IoT devices has raised significant concerns about data privacy, ethical implications, and regulatory compliance. IoT ecosystems collect vast amounts of personal data, making them vulnerable to cyberattacks and privacy breaches. This paper analyzes the ethical challenges and data privacy concerns associated with IoT technologies. It explores the implications of data collection, user consent, and surveillance on individual privacy and autonomy. The role of privacy-preserving technologies, such as homomorphic encryption, differential privacy, and federated learning, in mitigating privacy risks is discussed. Furthermore, the paper highlights the importance of regulatory frameworks, ethical guidelines, and public awareness in ensuring responsible deployment of IoT technologies.
