Abstract: The rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) is fundamentally altering the landscape of Information Technology (IT), leading to more connected, intelligent, and responsive systems. This paper delves into how IoT technologies are reshaping IT infrastructures across industries by embedding real-time data processing, automation, and inter-device communication into traditional IT frameworks. As billions of devices connect and share data autonomously, IT systems must adapt by evolving their architecture, protocols, and security frameworks. This systematic study explores current transformations, highlights key enablers like edge computing and distributed systems, and discusses challenges such as scalability, data privacy, and interoperability. It provides a forward-looking analysis of how IT must evolve to support IoT’s full potential in building smart cities, healthcare systems, logistics networks, and industrial ecosystems.
