Energy-Efficient Algorithms for IoT-Enabled Smart Cities

Abstract: The rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has enabled the development of smart cities, offering innovative solutions for urban sustainability. However, one of the key challenges in IoT-enabled smart cities is minimizing energy consumption across a variety of connected devices and networks. This paper explores the design and implementation of energy-efficient algorithms aimed at optimizing energy usage in IoT devices, focusing on reducing resource consumption, enhancing network efficiency, and supporting sustainable urban development. The research delves into techniques such as energy-aware routing, data aggregation, and sleep mode optimization, providing a comprehensive overview of existing solutions and proposing future directions for research in energy-efficient IoT technologies. By exploring the impact of these algorithms on the environmental footprint of smart cities, this paper contributes to the ongoing efforts to build more sustainable and energy-efficient urban ecosystems.
