Abstract:-ARM Cortex microcontrollers have become the dominant processing platforms for modern embedded systems due to their balance of performance, power efficiency, scalability, and rich ecosystem support. They are widely adopted across applications such as Internet of Things (IoT), industrial automation, automotive electronics, medical devices, and consumer products. Despite their advantages, designing embedded systems using ARM Cortex microcontrollers presents several challenges related to power management, real-time performance, memory constraints, peripheral integration, security, and software complexity. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of design challenges associated with ARM Cortex-based embedded systems. It examines architectural features of different Cortex families, discusses hardware and software integration issues, and highlights practical considerations through an industrial IoT case study. The study provides useful insights for engineers and researchers developing reliable and efficient ARM Cortex-based embedded solutions.
