ABSTRACT:The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) in automated manufacturing systems has significantly transformed industrial operations by enabling real-time data acquisition, predictive maintenance, and improved process control. IoT-based monitoring systems employ interconnected sensors, actuators, and intelligent platforms to collect, transmit, and analyze production data seamlessly. The real-time insights generated facilitate optimized resource utilization, reduced downtime, and improved product quality. Furthermore, IoT enables remote diagnostics and adaptive control in manufacturing environments, aligning with Industry 4.0 principles. This paper presents an in-depth study on the role of IoT in monitoring and controlling automated manufacturing systems, exploring hardware and software integration, communication protocols, cloud-based analytics, cybersecurity measures, and case studies from leading manufacturing firms. The study also outlines challenges, such as interoperability, data security, and infrastructure costs, while proposing strategies to overcome them for sustainable industrial adoption.
