CLOUD-BASED CAM SOLUTIONS FOR DISTRIBUTED MANUFACTURING NETWORKS

Author: Dr. Arjun Mehta,Ritika Sharma

ABSTRACT:Cloud-based Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) solutions are transforming the way industries approach design-to-production workflows, particularly in distributed manufacturing networks. This integration enables geographically dispersed facilities to collaborate in real-time, share resources, and streamline production cycles with unprecedented efficiency. The emergence of cloud infrastructure has removed traditional hardware and software constraints, enabling manufacturers to leverage high-performance CAM capabilities without extensive local computing resources. This paper explores the architecture, benefits, and challenges of cloud-based CAM in distributed manufacturing, focusing on interoperability, data security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Case studies demonstrate how cloud-enabled CAM has accelerated production timelines, improved quality control, and facilitated sustainable practices in smart manufacturing environments. The study also addresses the role of Industry 4.0, IoT, and AI integration in enhancing the effectiveness of cloud CAM systems. Recommendations are provided for implementing robust cloud CAM frameworks that can address security concerns, ensure interoperability, and enhance global supply chain efficiency.
