ABSTRACT:The evolution of smart factories powered by Industry 4.0 technologies is reshaping Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) by integrating cyber-physical systems, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and advanced analytics. CAM systems are no longer isolated programming tools; they are now interconnected components in a data-driven manufacturing ecosystem. This paper explores how smart factory principles—such as real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and adaptive control—are transforming CAM processes, enabling higher precision, reduced downtime, and improved customization. We examine the architecture of smart CAM environments, the role of automation in decision-making, and the integration of cloud-based solutions. Furthermore, the paper highlights challenges related to cybersecurity, interoperability, and workforce adaptation. Case studies demonstrate tangible productivity gains, quality improvements, and operational flexibility in smart factory settings. Finally, we discuss future trends, including AI-driven CAM optimization and decentralized manufacturing networks, paving the way for fully autonomous production environments.
