Abstract :This paper explores the technological and experiential differences between simple chatbots and social robots, two prominent forms of human-computer interaction tools. While both aim to facilitate communication between humans and machines, their modalities, capabilities, and contexts of use vary significantly. Chatbots operate primarily via text or voice on digital platforms, focusing on task-specific conversations. Social robots, on the other hand, integrate physical embodiment and social cues to provide a richer, human-like experience. This comparison analyzes their architecture, user perception, practical applications, and cognitive impact. By understanding these differences, researchers and developers can better align these technologies with educational, assistive, and commercial goals.
