Smart Temperature-Based Fan Controller for Energy-Efficient Room Cooling

Authors: Dr. Anjali Bansal, Rohit Mehra

Abstract: In a world increasingly focused on energy conservation and intelligent automation, temperature-based fan controllers provide a cost-effective and efficient solution to managing indoor climates. This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart fan controller that adjusts its speed based on the ambient room temperature using sensors and microcontrollers. The proposed system utilizes an LM35 temperature sensor interfaced with an Arduino microcontroller, which interprets analog temperature readings and modulates the fan speed accordingly using a PWM signal. The design is simple yet effective in optimizing energy consumption while enhancing user comfort. The system reduces manual intervention, prevents overheating, and contributes to smart home automation. With increasing temperatures and energy demand globally, this system is highly relevant to modern living conditions. This paper also discusses the theoretical background, hardware requirements, circuit design, software algorithm, experimental results, and potential future enhancements of the system.
