Intelligent Battery Management System For Next-Generation Electric Vehicles

Authors: Kunal Mehta,  Sneha Patil

Abstract: The Battery Management System (BMS) is a critical component in electric vehicles (EVs) that ensures the safe, efficient, and long-lasting operation of battery packs. This paper provides an in-depth exploration of the design, architecture, and functionality of BMS in the context of electric vehicles. Key areas include battery monitoring, state estimation, thermal management, fault detection, and balancing techniques. The study includes a comprehensive literature review of existing BMS technologies and an analytical methodology involving simulations and real-time testing of EV batteries. Future prospects such as AI-based predictive maintenance and solid-state battery integration are also discussed. This paper serves as a foundational resource for researchers and engineers aiming to develop advanced BMS solutions.
