Working Principle of Transformers

Authors: Advik Sharma

Abstract: The transformer, a key component in electrical power systems, is pivotal in stepping voltage up or down for efficient transmission and distribution. This paper provides a comprehensive study on the working principles of transformers, including electromagnetic induction, mutual inductance, and energy transfer between coils. It explores core types, winding configurations, and the physical laws that govern its operation. Emphasis is placed on transformer efficiency, losses, and practical implications in power systems. A detailed literature review supports the theoretical analysis. Methodologies include experimental setups and simulations. Future advancements in transformer technology for energy sustainability are discussed.

Keywords: Transformer, Electromagnetic Induction, Mutual Inductance, Power Transmission, Efficiency, Electrical Engineering
