Power Factor Correction: A Comprehensive Overview

Authors: Meera Rawat, Ishita Gupta, Rajat Negi.

Abstract: Power factor correction (PFC) plays a pivotal role in optimizing the operational efficiency of electrical systems by addressing inherent issues related to power factor. This paper offers an exhaustive exploration of power factor correction techniques, highlighting their crucial significance in enhancing the overall performance and energy efficiency of electrical systems. To facilitate a comprehensive understanding, the abstract elucidates key concepts, methodologies, and benefits associated with power factor correction, supported by the inclusion of pertinent tables and figures.Power factor, defined as the ratio of real power to apparent power in an electrical system, serves as a critical indicator of energy utilization efficiency. A thorough examination of the significance of power factor reveals that a lower power factor leads to increased energy losses, augmented electricity bills, and diminished overall system capacity. Consequently, the implementation of power factor correction emerges as an essential strategy to mitigate these challenges and improve the efficiency of electrical systems.
