Industrial Pharmacy Practices in Large-Scale Tablet Manufacturing: Challenges and Innovations

Asha Chauhan, Ankit Verma

Abstract

Abstract Tablet production is one of the most common dosage forms in the pharmaceutical industry, requiring stringent control over quality and scalability. This paper discusses the principles of industrial pharmacy as they apply to large-scale tablet manufacturing. Topics include raw material selection, granulation techniques, compression, coating technologies, and in process controls. The study also explores quality by design (QbD), process analytical technology (PAT), and continuous manufacturing models that have emerged to address scalability challenges. Case studies from Indian and international pharmaceutical companies illustrate real-world applications, highlighting both successes and persistent barriers. A focus is maintained on innovations that reduce batch variability and improve regulatory compliance.
