A Clinical Study on Ayurvedic Management of Pama
Abstract
Pama, a type of Kshudra Kushtha described in Ayurveda, is a common Twak Dosha with well-defined etiopathogenesis and management principles. The present clinical study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of an Ayurvedic treatment protocol in 75 uncomplicated cases of Pama. Patients were assessed using classical Ayurvedic parameters and routine laboratory investigations to exclude other conditions. The treatment included Gandhaka Kalpa, Kaishore Guggulu, and external applications such as Maha Marichyadi Taila and Jatyadi Taila with Yashad Pushpa Bhasma. Clinical improvement was graded based on symptomatic relief. The results showed that most patients achieved moderate to marked improvement, with a few attaining complete remission. The study concludes that the Ayurvedic regimen is effective and safe for managing Pama.
