Dr. Ayush Kumar, Preeti Chouhan

Abstract

Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being and quality of life. In the modern era, mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders are increasing rapidly. Ayurveda, the traditional system of Indian medicine, offers a holistic approach toward mental health through the integration of body, mind, and spirit. This paper explores Ayurvedic perspectives on mental health, examining its philosophical foundations, diagnostic approaches, treatment modalities, and the challenges faced in integrating Ayurveda with contemporary mental health care. Emphasis is given on understanding how mental health is viewed through the lens of Doshas, Dhatus, and Manas, along with the preventive and therapeutic strategies suggested in classical Ayurvedic texts.
