Abstract: This paper explores the fundamental differences between Samshodhana (purification therapies) and Samshamana (palliative treatments) in Ayurveda, emphasizing the conditions and criteria that determine the choice between the two. Through the lens of dosha imbalance, overall health, and chronicity of diseases, the paper provides insights into the circumstances under which either method is most appropriate. The focus is on the role of both approaches in maintaining long-term health and addressing disease at its root cause or managing symptoms.
