Panchkarma and Lifestyle Diseases Can Traditional Detoxification Combat Modern Ailments?

Abstract: The prevalence of lifestyle diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and stress-related disorders, has reached alarming levels worldwide, primarily due to sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy dietary choices, and increased stress. As the burden of these modern ailments continues to rise, there is a growing interest in exploring alternative and complementary approaches to prevent and manage these conditions. Panchkarma, an ancient Ayurvedic practice originating from India, is one such traditional detoxification and rejuvenation therapy that has gained attention for its potential to address lifestyle diseases. This paper examines the principles and components of Panchkarma, its historical context, and the scientific evidence supporting its efficacy in combating modern lifestyle diseases. Additionally, we discuss the integration of Panchkarma into contemporary healthcare systems and its role in promoting holistic well-being.
