Kaya is translated as "body," and Chikitsa is the Sanskrit word for treatment. Together, these two words refer to the first branch of Ashtang Ayurveda that focuses on general medicine. Kaya also refers to Agni, and the entire notion of Ayurvedic therapies is built on Agni. The primary line of treatment for the majority of illnesses is Agni correction.
