Abstract: The design and construction of pavement systems are undergoing a transformative shift fueled by technological innovations and the pressing demand for sustainable, cost-effective transportation infrastructure. As urban mobility grows and climate variability increases, modern pavement design must integrate durability, environmental compatibility and structural performance. This paper explores recent advancements in pavement design methodologies and material technologies that support resilient and efficient transportation systems. It highlights the development of novel materials such as high-performance asphalt mixtures, recycled and eco-friendly composites, and smart materials that respond to environmental stimuli.
