Abstract: Sustainable transportation has emerged as a critical necessity in the global effort to combat climate change and ensure a livable future for coming generations. This paper explores engineering strategies designed to reduce the carbon footprint associated with contemporary transportation systems. It emphasizes the transition from fossil-fuel-based mobility to low-emission and zero-emission alternatives, including the integration of electric vehicles (EVs), public transport enhancements, smart infrastructure, and renewable energy applications. By assessing technological innovations, policy frameworks, and urban planning models, the paper highlights the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and systemic changes. The study also outlines existing challenges and future scopes in implementing sustainable transport systems across different geographic and socioeconomic settings.
