Achieving Sustainable Transportation: Integrating Environmental, Social, and Economic Factors into Planning and Design

Abstract : This paper explores the multifaceted approach of sustainable transportation planning, focusing on the integration of environmental, social, and economic factors into the design and implementation of transportation systems. It examines various strategies such as promoting non-motorized transportation, adopting alternative fuels, electrifying vehicles, and developing policies and regulations to achieve sustainability goals. Through an interdisciplinary lens, this paper provides insights into the challenges and an opportunity associated with sustainable transportation planning and offers recommendations for creating resilient and equitable transportation systems.
