ABSTRACT: Additive manufacturing (AM) has emerged as a transformative technology, complementing traditional machining techniques in the design and production of modern mechanical systems. This paper examines the integration of AM into conventional machining workflows and its effects on the design flexibility, material efficiency, and overall performance of mechanical systems. By analyzing case studies from industries such as aerospace, automotive, and healthcare, the paper demonstrates the synergy between AM and machining technologies. It also addresses challenges such as material compatibility, post-processing, and cost-effectiveness, and explores future trends in the integration of AM for producing more complex and customized components.
KEYWORDS: Additive Manufacturing, Machining Processes, Mechanical Systems, Design Flexibility, Material Efficiency
