Abstract


Digital Twins (DT) and Virtual IoT Models (VIoTM) represent a transformative paradigm in modern IoT applications, enabling real-time monitoring, simulation, and predictive maintenance of physical systems through virtual representations. This paper reviews the current advancements, architectures, applications, and challenges of Digital Twins in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT). The integration of DT with IoT enhances data-driven decision-making, improves system efficiency, and reduces operational costs. Various modeling techniques, communication protocols, and simulation frameworks are explored. Case studies in smart manufacturing, healthcare, and urban infrastructure are discussed to illustrate practical implementations. The paper concludes with insights into future research directions, emphasizing the need for standardization, interoperability, and AI-enhanced DT for IoT ecosystems.
