Robust Adaptive Control Frameworks for Infinite-Dimensional Partial Differential Equation Based Systems in Cyber-Physical Environments: Design, Analysis, and Implementation Challenges

Dr. Arvind Kumar, Prof. Meera Raghavan

Abstract

Cyber-physical systems (CPS) have emerged as a vital paradigm in modern engineering, integrating computation, networking, and physical processes. Infinite-dimensional systems, particularly those governed by partial differential equations (PDEs), arise naturally in applications such as fluid dynamics, thermal processes, structural vibrations, and chemical reactors. These systems pose unique challenges due to their distributed nature, inherent uncertainties, and sensitivity to external disturbances. Robust adaptive control frameworks provide an effective methodology for ensuring stability, performance, and resilience in the presence of such complexities. This paper provides an in-depth discussion on the design, analysis, and implementation of robust adaptive controllers for PDE-based infinite-dimensional systems within cyber-physical environments. We highlight theoretical foundations, practical considerations, challenges, and potential future research directions.
