Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is witnessing exponential growth in recent years, leading to unprecedented data generation at the edge. Traditional cloud computing frameworks struggle to handle low-latency, high-volume processing required by IoT applications. Quantum-Edge Cloud Computing (QECC) emerges as a promising solution that combines the strengths of quantum computing, edge computing, and cloud infrastructure to support future IoT systems. This paper provides a comprehensive review of QECC, its architecture, enabling technologies, and potential applications. We discuss quantum-assisted edge processing, distributed quantum-cloud integration, and potential benefits such as ultra-fast computation, enhanced security, and energy efficiency. Challenges such as hardware limitations, scalability, and error correction are also addressed. Finally, potential research directions for realizing QECC-enabled IoT networks are highlighted.
