Real World Evidence for Homoeopathic Uterotonics
Abstract
Uterotonics play a pivotal role in managing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), labor induction, and other obstetric conditions. While conventional uterotonics like oxytocin and misoprostol are widely used, there is a growing interest in homeopathic alternatives due to their safety profile and minimal adverse effects. This review examines real-world evidence (RWE) for homeopathic uterotonics, focusing on their efficacy, safety, and applicability in obstetric practice. Data were gathered from observational studies, patient registries, and case series published over the last two decades. Results suggest that homeopathic uterotonics such as Caulophyllum thalictroides, Cimicifuga racemosa, Belladonna, and Secale cornutum may support uterine contractility, regulate labor progression, and aid in postpartum recovery with negligible side effects. The study also highlights limitations in standardized dosing, clinical trial design, and integration with conventional obstetric care. Future research through robust pragmatic trials and multicentric registries is recommended to substantiate efficacy claims and optimize clinical protocols.
