Abstract


ABSTRACT The traditional electrical power grid faces significant challenges in the current energy landscape due to increasing demand, renewable energy integration, and the need for improved reliability. Smart grids, leveraging advanced communication, control, and information technologies, offer a transformative solution to modernize the power system. This paper presents a comprehensive review of smart grids, their architecture, key technologies, benefits, challenges, and recent advancements in grid modernization. It also highlights the role of renewable energy integration, demand response, energy storage, and cybersecurity in creating an efficient, reliable, and resilient electrical network.
