Abstract


ABSTRACT The global shift towards sustainable energy has accelerated the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) such as solar, wind, and small-scale hydropower into existing power grids. However, the intermittent nature of RES presents challenges related to grid stability, energy management, and reliability. Advanced energy storage systems (ESS) provide viable solutions to these challenges, offering grid support, demand response, and energy balancing capabilities. This paper presents a comprehensive review of renewable energy integration and advanced energy storage technologies, emphasizing their roles in enhancing grid stability, efficiency, and reliability. The study discusses storage options including batteries, supercapacitors, and hydrogen systems, along with their control strategies and application scenarios. Challenges, trends, and future prospects for energy storage integration are also addressed.
