AI Auditability and Model Accountability Tools: Frameworks, Methods, and Governance for Responsible Artificial Intelligence Systems
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are increasingly being deployed in high[1]stakes domains such as healthcare, finance, criminal justice, and autonomous systems. However, their complexity and opacity often lead to concerns regarding fairness, transparency, and accountability. AI auditability and model accountability tools are emerging as essential mechanisms to ensure that AI systems behave ethically, transparently, and in alignment with human values. This paper explores the conceptual foundations, architectural frameworks, and technical tools used for auditing AI systems and enforcing accountability. It highlights interpretability techniques, logging mechanisms, bias detection tools, and governance frameworks that collectively enable responsible AI deployment. The study also proposes a structured audit pipeline and presents comparative analysis of existing accountability approaches. Finally, the paper emphasizes the need for standardized global regulations and explainability-by[1]design principles.
