Digital Twin Technology in Advanced Manufacturing Systems: A Revolutionary Approach

Author: Rajesh Khanna

Abstract: Digital twin technology represents a revolutionary approach to enhancing advanced manufacturing systems by creating virtual replicas of physical assets, processes, and systems. This paper delves into the application of digital twins in manufacturing, highlighting their role in simulating, predicting, and optimizing production processes. The integration of digital twins allows for real-time monitoring and control, leading to improved efficiency, reduced downtime, and enhanced product quality. We analyze the components of digital twin systems, including data acquisition, modeling, and simulation, and provide examples of their application in different manufacturing sectors. The challenges associated with implementing digital twin technology, such as data integration, cybersecurity, and system complexity, are also discussed. The paper concludes with a discussion on the future prospects of digital twin technology in transforming manufacturing systems.
