Abstract: Native Android development has undergone significant transformation with the introduction of Kotlin as the officially preferred programming language by Google. Kotlin addresses many limitations of Java by offering concise syntax, null safety, functional programming support, and improved interoperability. This paper presents a detailed study on native Android development using Kotlin, emphasizing industry-accepted best practices for building scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile applications. Key aspects discussed include project architecture, UI development, asynchronous programming, memory management, testing strategies, security considerations, and performance optimization. Tables and conceptual figures are used to illustrate design patterns and development workflows. The study aims to serve as a practical and academic reference for students, researchers, and developers adopting Kotlin for native Android application development.
Keywords: Android development, Kotlin, MVVM, Mobile applications, Best practices
