The Intersection of Technology and Business Ethics
Abstract
This study examines the critical role technology plays in contemporary business operations, analyzing how advancements in digital technologies like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things are transforming business models, enhancing operational efficiency, facilitating data-driven decision making, and driving innovation, while emphasizing the necessity for companies to adapt to the rapidly evolving technological landscape to maintain competitiveness in the global market. While the ethics of technology is analyzed across disciplines from science and technology studies (STS), engineering, computer science, critical management studies, and law, less attention is paid to the role that firms and managers play in the design, development, and dissemination of technology across communities and within their firm. Each field brings expertise that, together, improves our understanding of the ethical implications of technology.
