Global Burden of Communicable Diseases and Nursing Interventions

Dr. Anjali Verma

Abstract

Communicable diseases remain a significant global health challenge despite advances in medicine, vaccination, and public health systems. Infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and emerging viral infections continue to contribute substantially to morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This research paper explores the global burden of communicable diseases, their epidemiology, determinants, and socio-economic impact. It further examines the crucial role of nursing professionals in prevention, control, management, and rehabilitation. Evidence-based nursing interventions, including infection prevention and control, community education, vaccination campaigns, and patient-centered care, are discussed in detail. The paper highlights challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, health disparities, and limited resources, while also proposing strategies to strengthen nursing practice and healthcare systems globally.
