Telepsychiatry And Digital Mental-Health Support Delivered By Nurses For Adolescents: An Integrated Approach To Accessible And Equitable Mental Healthcare In The Digital Age

Dr. Kavita Narayan, Prof. Arvind S. Menon

Abstract

Telepsychiatry and digital mental-health support have emerged as transformative modalities in adolescent mental healthcare. As the prevalence of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and self-harming behaviors rises among youth, traditional face-to-face psychiatric interventions often fail to meet increasing demand—especially in rural or underserved areas. This paper explores the evolving role of nurses in delivering telepsychiatric services and digital mental-health support for adolescents. It discusses the framework, challenges, advantages, and future directions of integrating technology-driven psychiatric care with nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on how trained nurses can facilitate therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and ongoing monitoring through digital platforms, ensuring a compassionate, accessible, and evidence-based approach to adolescent mental well-being.
