Role of Herbal Medicines in the Management of Antepartum and Postpartum Conditions in Ayurveda

Abstract: Antepartum and postpartum care are critical stages in a woman's life, and Ayurveda provides a holistic approach to managing the health of the mother and child during these periods. This paper explores the use of Ayurvedic herbal formulations in managing common antepartum and postpartum conditions such as nausea, edema, lactation issues, and dosha imbalances. It delves into traditional practices, herbal combinations, and their efficacy based on Ayurvedic principles. The focus will be on the therapeutic roles of herbs like Shatavari, Ashwagandha, and Yastimadhu, as well as the importance of Panchakarma therapies during the postpartum period.
