Abstract

Abstract: Vandhyatva, or infertility, is a growing concern among reproductive-age couples and is defined as the failure to achieve conception after one year of unprotected intercourse. In Ayurveda, infertility is often understood through the lens of dosha imbalance, dhatu (tissue) depletion, and impaired functioning of the reproductive system. Phala Ghrita, a traditional Ayurvedic medicated ghee preparation, is specifically mentioned in classical texts for its role in improving fertility. Enriched with potent herbs such as Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Brahmi, and Yashtimadhu, Phala Ghrita acts as a Rasayana (rejuvenator), Balya (strengthener), and Garbhasthapana (uterine stabilizer). This paper aims to evaluate the therapeutic importance of Phala Ghrita in treating female infertility, focusing on its pharmacological properties, clinical evidence, and mode of action from both Ayurvedic and biomedical perspectives.
