Abstract

Abstract: The rising environmental concerns and depletion of fossil fuels have accelerated the global shift toward sustainable mobility, making electric vehicles (EVs) a crucial alternative. This paper explores the future prospects of electric vehicle (EV) drive technologies and control strategies that are essential for improving performance, range, reliability, and user experience. A comprehensive analysis of advanced motor drives, such as Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) and Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs), and their suitability for next-generation EVs is presented. Additionally, modern control strategies like vector control, direct torque control (DTC), and AI- based approaches are examined. Challenges such as thermal management, battery optimization, and cost-effective implementation are discussed, along with future trends like wireless charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration, and autonomous EVs.
