Abstract


The global economy heavily depends on efficient freight and logistics systems that ensure the seamless movement of goods across regions and continents. However, increasing demand, environmental concerns, and supply chain disruptions have driven the need for sustainability in transportation engineering. Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) integrates ecofriendly practices, technology, and policy frameworks to reduce environmental impacts while enhancing efficiency and resilience. This paper explores the interconnections between freight, logistics, and sustainable supply chain practices within transportation engineering. It presents an overview of sustainable logistics strategies, smart technologies, green freight initiatives, and multimodal transport systems.
