Carbon-Neutral Cities: A Case Study on Renewable Energy-Powered Urban Centers

Abstract: The concept of carbon-neutral cities represents a transformative shift towards sustainable urban living. These cities aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by integrating renewable energy systems, sustainable urban planning, and innovative policies. This paper explores the fundamental principles of carbon-neutral cities, focusing on renewable energy as the backbone of this transition. It evaluates case studies of cities like Copenhagen, Denmark, and Masdar City, UAE, highlighting their strategies, challenges, and achievements in becoming carbon-neutral. The findings underline the critical role of governmental policies, community engagement, and technological innovation in realizing the vision of sustainable, energy-efficient urban environments.
