Abstract
Design innovation has emerged as a critical driver of competitiveness in today’s manufacturing sector, where efficiency, customization, and sustainability determine long-term success. The convergence of design and manufacturing processes under Industry 4.0 has redefined production efficiency and operational performance. This paper investigates how design innovation directly influences manufacturing innovation and enhances technical efficiency. It explores the mechanisms by which innovative product design enables flexible production, promotes sustainable material usage, and integrates digital technologies such as CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing, and digital twins. The study highlights the strategic interdependence between design thinking and technical optimization and identifies emerging challenges, opportunities, and future research directions for achieving design-led manufacturing excellence.
