Homoeopathic Management of Chronic Sinusitis: An Integrative ENT Perspective
Abstract
Chronic sinusitis, now commonly termed chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), is apersistent inflammatory disorder of the paranasal sinuses and nasal mucosalasting more than twelve weeks. It significantly impairs quality of life through symptoms such as nasal obstruction, facial pain, postnasal drip, anosmia, headache, and fatigue. Conventional management includes saline irrigation, antibiotics, corticosteroids, antihistamines, and surgical intervention in resistant cases. However, recurrence, antimicrobial resistance, medication side effects, and patient dissatisfaction have encouraged interest in integrative treatment strategies. Homoeopathy, with its individualized therapeutic approach, seeks to address constitutional predisposition, recurrent catarrhal tendencies, allergic sensitivity, and chronic inflammatory responses. This paper explores the homoeopathic management of chronic sinusitis within an integrative ENT framework. Pathophysiology, diagnostic evaluation, conventional treatment limitations, homoeopathic principles, commonly indicated remedies, case management, supportive lifestyle measures, and evidence perspectives are discussed. An integrative model combining ENT diagnostics with individualized homoeopathic prescribing may offer symptomatic relief, reduction in recurrence, improved mucosal resilience, and enhanced patient satisfaction. Further controlled studies are warranted to define its role in evidence-based multidisciplinary care.
