Abstract

Deviated nasal septum (DNS) is a common structural abnormality that maycause nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, recurrent sinusitis, headache, snoring, sleep disturbance, and impaired quality of life. Septoplasty, with orwithout turbinate reduction, is the standard surgical treatment forsymptomatic cases not responding to conservative measures. Althoughgenerally safe and effective, postoperative recovery may involve pain, congestion, edema, crusting, dryness, sleep discomfort, anxiety, temporaryimpaired breathing sensation, and delayed mucosal healing. Many patientsseek supportive therapies that may enhance comfort and recovery whileremaining compatible with routine ENT care. Homoeopathy has traditionallybeen used as an adjunctive modality in postoperative settings to address tissue trauma, swelling, sensitivity, anxiety, and healing response throughindividualized remedy selection. This paper examines the potential role ofadjunctive homoeopathic care in deviated nasal septum surgery recovery from an integrative ENT perspective. Surgical background, postoperativephysiology, common symptoms, homoeopathic remedy indications, recoverymonitoring, limitations, evidence considerations, and future researchdirections are discussed. Homoeopathy should complement—not replace—surgeon-directed postoperative care. When used responsibly, it may contribute to improved comfort, reduced subjective symptom burden, and enhanced patient satisfaction during recovery. KEYWORDS: Deviated nasal septum, septoplasty, homoeopathy, postoperative care, ENT surgery, integrative medicine.
