Standardization and Analytical Profiling of Homoeopathic Mother Tinctures
Abstract
Homoeopathic mother tinctures (MTs) form the cornerstone of homoeopathic therapeutics, serving as the starting point for potentization and subsequent dilutions. Despite their widespread use, variability in source materials, preparation techniques, and storage conditions often result in differences in chemical composition and therapeutic efficacy. Standardization and analytical profiling are essential to ensure consistency, quality, and safety of these preparations. This review explores the principles of standardization, analytical methods including chromatographic, spectroscopic, and physicochemical techniques, and the challenges associated with maintaining reproducible quality in mother tinctures. Advances in modern analytical instrumentation provide opportunities to establish quality control frameworks, enabling homoeopathic MTs to meet scientific rigor without compromising the individualized therapeutic approach.
