Abstract

Abstract

Bhaishajya Kalpana, a vital branch of Ayurveda, deals with the art and science of medicinal formulation. Rooted in the ancient Indian system of medicine, this discipline focuses on the selection, processing, and transformation of raw materials into therapeutically effective dosage forms. With the resurgence of interest in traditional medicine across the globe, Bhaishajya Kalpana is now being re-examined through the lens of modern pharmaceutical sciences. This paper explores the historical foundations of Bhaishajya Kalpana, its principles of formulation, and how they have informed and continue to shape contemporary drug development, especially in herbal and plant-based pharmaceuticals. The paper also examines the challenges of standardization and integration with allopathic systems and highlights the future potential of this ancient science in contributing to a sustainable and holistic healthcare model.
