Abstract

Contemporary discussion of homeopathic practice increasingly invokes theframeworks of integrative medicine and evidence-informed practice, situating homeopathy alongside conventional care within patient-centred, evidence-conscious models. This paper reviews these integrative and evidence-informed approaches, examining the concept of integrative medicine, the current international policy context, and the application, and limits, of evidence-informed practice to homeopathy. A review-based methodology is adopted, drawing on international strategy documents, the integrative-medicine and evidence-based-practice literature, and the evidence assessments of homeopathy. The analysis shows that integrative medicine is defined as an interdisciplinary, evidence-based approach combining biomedical and complementary knowledge; that the international policy context is shaped by the World Health Organization's traditional-medicine strategy and by a marked growth in national policies on traditional and complementary medicine; and that evidence-informed practice provides a structured cycle of asking, acquiring, appraising, applying, and assessing evidence. Crucially, the study finds that the application of these frameworks to homeopathy is constrained by a fundamental tension: authoritative reviews have concluded that homeopathy has not been shown to be effective beyond placebo, so genuinely evidence-informed integration must be transparent about this, must be grounded in reliable evidence rather than assertion, and must never allow homeopathy to delay or replace effective treatment. It concludes that integrative and evidence-informed language is prominent in contemporary practice but that its responsible application requires honesty about the evidence and a firm commitment to patient safety. Certain quantitative figures are illustrative; policy figures are drawn from international sources.  KEYWORDS: Homeopathy, Integrative Medicine, Evidence-InformedPractice, Evidence-Based Medicine, WHO Strategy, Patient Safety, HealthPolicy, Outcomes
