NEW METRICS FOR SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE

Amandeep Singh, Bhuwaneshwar Pathak

Abstract

The evolving dynamics of global supply chains necessitate the development of new metrics for performance evaluation. Traditional metrics, such as cost, delivery time, and inventory levels, are no longer sufficient to measure the efficiency and resilience of modern supply chains. With increasing complexity driven by globalization, technological integration, and sustainability pressures, organizations must adopt multidimensional performance indicators. This paper reviews contemporary research on supply chain performance measurement, highlighting emerging metrics including digital readiness, sustainability index, risk resilience, customer-centric responsiveness, and innovation adaptability. Furthermore, it provides a framework for integrating these metrics into strategic decision-making. The findings suggest that adopting new performance metrics improves visibility, enhances adaptability, and supports sustainable supply chain practices.
