Cyber Risk Communication: How Transparency Influences Digital Trust

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Ms. S. Nithya

Abstract

In an era of pervasive digitalization, cyber risks have become inevitable across sectors and platforms. While organizations invest heavily in technical controls to manage cyber threats, the manner in which cyber risks and incidents are communicated to stakeholders has emerged as a decisive factor in shaping digital trust. Transparent cyber risk communication influences how users, partners, regulators, and investors perceive organizational competence, integrity, and accountability. This paper examines the role of cyber risk communication in building and sustaining digital trust. It analyzes communication strategies before, during, and after cyber incidents, and explores how transparency, timeliness, and clarity affect stakeholder trust. The study proposes a communication-centric framework that integrates cyber risk management with trust-building practices. The paper argues that effective cyber risk communication is not merely a compliance obligation but a strategic capability essential for long-term digital resilience.
